Heather MacDonald

Heather grew up in the small town of Port Elgin, Ontario and spent her formative years traveling around on the bluegrass and folk festival circuit with her family. As she grew older, she was astonished to find out there were other forms of music in the world and developed a taste for all sorts of musical styles, although she retains a soft spot for her folk-based roots. She learned to sing from her mother on long car rides as they sang along to tapes of Nanci Griffith, Gordon Lightfoot, John Denver, and many others.

Heather is the logical, organized half of the duo who writes everything down and even knows where to find that information three weeks later. When not singing with Polly, she can be found hanging out with various local theatre groups, playing board games, baking cookies or at her day job as a professional paper pusher. Her secret weakness is pizza and she has great aspirations of being a crazy cat lady when she gets older -- some may argue she has already accomplished this. She is compulsively helpful and her motto is "If you got a problem, yo, I'll solve it." which she frequently declares aloud, although she has never once paid a royalty fee to Vanilla Ice.

Polly Edwards
Vocals, Piano, Guitar, Bodhran, Tin Whistle

Polly was born and raised in Markdale, Ontario, and grew up listening to Bing Crosby, the Andrews Sisters, and 1940's big bands, as well as her sister's Bon Jovi collection and the soundtrack to The Chipmunk Adventure. In high school, she fell in love with Moe Koffman, and had brief but intense flings with Garth Brooks and the film version of Cats. In university, she discovered Irish/East Coast folk music and Stan Rogers, and ten years later those are still her new/old favourites, although she retains a soft spot for, well, everything else.

Polly is the flighty, impulsive half of the duo, who is responsible for eventually losing all the sheets of paper on which Heather carefully writes things down. She loves dark chocolate, her dog Tess, Irish dancing, and eating the cookies Heather bakes. She has excellent balance on ice, and used to curl competitively. She is a vegetarian, and is always cast as the pirate or the crazy old lady in local plays. She also has a secret identity and occasionally introduces herself with the wrong first name. She planned to go to school for musical theatre, but ended up graduating in archaeology, and then going back for music. She's still there. She doesn't have a motto because she's far too easily distracted and
